archos 5 gen

The difference between the archos 5 and the archos 5g is that the 5g comes with a built in sim card that allows you to connect to 3g or 3.5g cell phone providers and access the internet, if you have a plan, whenever you are within range of a cell tower. I believe that the 5g also has wifi. The archos 5 on the other hand only has access to wifi when near a hotspot. However, you can buy a seperate dock and a plug-in from archos and connect it to your archos 5 and connect a modem that you can aquire from a cell phone provider and connect to the internet via cell phone towers. The archos 5 is scheduled to come out september 8th in three sizes, 60gb, 120gb, and 250gb. Because the archos 5g has a built in sim card, it only comes in a 30gb model and doesn't come out until december. So basically, the difference is, with the archos 5g, you can purchase a plan from a cell phone provider and access the internet almost anywhere while the archos 5 can only access the internet at a wifi hotspot but when you purchase extra attachments, can access the internet almost anywhere.

buy archos 5

I believe that the 5G offers faster internet over its 3.5G connection, compared to the 5 which offers normal Wifi.

I think that Archos just recently (past couple days) announced this product line, so check back later for more information.
