Do you need the web browser plug-in on an archos 705 in order to use widgets?

I have recently bought an archos 705 and would like to put some widgets on my device. What I want to know is are they free, according to archos, they are free. I downloaded a pack of widgets from the website and put them on my device. I tried them but my device cannot play them. I have the latest firmware and i followed all the directions. Can anybody tell me what wrong, any help would be greatly apprciated.

Did you drag the “.aos” file onto your Archos Hard drive, then unplug the USB lead, plug in the AC adaptor and let it update? What actually happened when you try to use the widgets?
